What was intended to be a public discussion on the future of Westside housing backfired on Mayor Ron Littlefield Tuesday, as members of Chattanooga City Council voiced concerns over not being informed of the meeting.
Mayors from around Southeast Tennessee voted unanimously to create a new mayors association. East Ridge Mayor Brent Lambert invited mayors from all over Southeast Tennessee to discuss the possibility of forming a Southeast Tennessee Municipal Mayors Association, and the mayors in attendance voted unanimously to do so. Currently, West Tennessee and Middle Tennessee have similar associations. Fourteen Southeast Tennessee mayors met and discussed the need for and the purpose of a Southeast Tennessee Municipal Mayors Association.
