The preeminent showcase for young musicians returns to the Tivoli Theatre Thursday, Jan. 23 for a live taping.

"From the Top" is heard each week on more than 250 NPR stations by 70,000 listeners. It can be heard in Chattanooga on WSMC Classical 90.5 FM.

The program features the performances and stories of young classical musicians from across the country.

Ticket prices are $20 to $40, and all seats are reserved. Click here to purchase tickets. The show begins at 7 p.m.

Five East Tennessee performers will be highlighted during the taping, among others. The showcase includes the McCallie School Guitar Quartet, composed of Chattanooga students Drew Shikoh, Matthew Norris, Ralston Hartness and Griffin Jayne.

Maryville pianist Mayuki Miyashita is a 13-year-old virtuoso. Watch a video of a July performance. 

Additionally, the Chattanooga Youth Symphony and Southern Adventist University’s Symphony Orchestra will offer a prebroadcast performance.

One hundred at-risk students from East Lake Middle School and Orchard Knob Middle School will be able to enjoy the performance at no cost, thanks to support from local donors. Participants from "From the Top" will also spend time at Memorial Hospital, Donaldson Elementary, East Lake Elementary and Howard High School while in town.
