Officials announced that hospitality and entertainment company See Rock City Inc. bought Clumpies Ice Cream Company on Frazier Avenue in North Chattanooga, as well as its production site on the Southside.

"We are very excited to have the opportunity to shepherd this unique Chattanooga brand and look forward to continuing to make and sell high-quality ice cream in the downtown area," Susan Harris, president of See Rock City, said in a prepared statement.

See Rock City leaders have brought on Doug Chapin to manage both retail and wholesale for Clumpies.

He graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's of arts in economics and international affairs and is joining Clumpies after serving as a logistics coordinator at Access America Transport. He has strengths in business development and operational management, according to a news release.

Billy Sparks, director of food and beverage for SRC, will partner with Chapin to bring food industry knowledge to the table, officials said in the news release.

Sparks’ culinary leadership includes Grandview and Café 7 at Rock City.
