Brentwood, Tenn.-based specialty firm Larry Hyatt & Associates has merged with Chattanooga's Decosimo in a move that officials said is mutually beneficial.

Larry Hyatt & Associates specializes in state and local taxes, and Larry Hyatt has joined the firm as principal and director of state and local tax.

"This merger will bring our existing clients additional expertise that is critical to businesses for state and local tax audits by taxing authorities, as these taxes are becoming increasingly burdensome and require resolution for sustained success and expansion," Nick Decosimo, managing principal of Decosimo, said in a prepared statement.

The merger will significantly enhance Decosimo’s state and local tax expertise in each of the firm’s nine U.S. offices located in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Ohio, according to a news release.

The merger also means that Larry Hyatt & Associates’ current clients will have access to additional tax, audit, valuation, due diligence and other consulting capabilities for a more complete package of services available under the same firm umbrella, according to the release.

In addition to Decosimo’s existing downtown Nashville location, the newly merged firms will have space in Brentwood’s Maryland Farms office park.

Decosimo has office locations in Brentwood, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville, Tenn.; Atlanta and Dalton, Ga.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Huntsville, Ala.; and the Cayman Islands.

Each of Decosimo's offices offers a range of accounting, tax, assurance and advisory services to individuals and businesses operating in a wide array of industries, including niche focuses on entertainment, health care, manufacturing and distribution, and investment entities.
