Rep. Chuck Fleischmann has been endorsed by 19 state lawmakers, his campaign announced Tuesday.

"It has truly been the honor of my lifetime to serve the people of Tennessee’s 3rd District in Congress," Fleischmann said in a prepared statement. "Times are certainly tough in Washington, and I am very fortunate to have such a wonderful group of state legislators to work with on issues impacting Tennesseans. I believe these endorsements are proof-positive of the strong relationships I have with our local leaders, and I look forward to continuing to serve with them."

The Republican endorsements are from every county in the 3rd Congressional District, the campaign's announcement notes. The list consists of state Reps. Kevin Brooks, Kent Calfee, Mike Carter, Vince Dean, Richard Floyd, John Forgety, Kelly Keisling, Jimmy Matlock, Gerald McCormick, Dennis Powers, John Ragan, Dennis Roach and Eric Watson. State Sens. Mike Bell, Todd Gardenhire, Randy McNally, Frank Nicely, Bo Watson and Ken Yager also endorsed him.

No candidates have officially declared that they will run for the seat held by Fleischmann in next year’s election. Weston Wamp, who unsuccessfully challenged the congressman in the 2012 GOP primary, is weighing a potential rematch. He emailed donors in November, asking for their support.

"I’ve kind of felt like a racehorse approaching the gate," Wamp said Wednesday.
