Chattanooga’s Ashlen Dewart is coming off quite a week for the Lady Mocs, and on Tuesday, she was awarded the league’s top weekly honor by being named Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Dewart, a 6-foot-3 senior averaged 20.7 points and 7.7 rebounds in lopsided wins over Jacksonville State, UNC Greensboro and Elon, shooting 69 percent from the field while making 5 of 7 (71.4%) from 3-point range.

Against the Gamecocks—a 68-53 UTC victory—Dewart scored a then-season-best 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, marking her first double-double of the season.

She was quiet in Saturday’s 86-53 win over the Spartans, finishing with just six points and three boards, but bounced back in a big way in Monday’s dominating win over Elon. Dewart dropped a season-high 29 points on 13 of 16 shooting, knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and matched her season-high with 10 rebounds.

Dewart, the preseason SoCon Player of the Year, is currently fourth in the league in field goal percentage (52.6%), 14th in scoring (11.3 ppg) and 18th in rebounding (4.9 rpg). Teammate Taylor Hall brought home back-to-back SoCon Women’s Basketball Player of the Week awards for the weeks of Nov. 12 and Nov. 19.

Eleven games into the 2013-14 season, Chattanooga ranks atop the SoCon standings at 8-3 overall and 2-0 in league play. The Lady Mocs return to action Wednesday at Austin Peay’s Winfield Dunn Center, where they’ll face the Lady Govs (8 p.m. ET) in non-conference action.
