The unemployment rate decreased from 7.3 to 7 percent in November, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And in a separate report, CEOs said they are slightly more optimistic about the economy.

In November, employment increased in transportation, warehousing, health care and manufacturing, according to the bureau.

In related news, a survey of the nation's chief executives for the largest companies found that 34 percent expect their companies will increase hiring in the next six months. That's up from 32 percent, according to the previous survey. 

Seventy-three percent of CEOs surveyed said that they expect their company's sales to increase. That's up from 71 percent.
