Chattanooga-based software company LateFringe LLC has purchased Watchily, a media searching website.
Watchily was created by David Horowitz of Washington, D.C., and LateFringe was created by Jonathan Cleary in 2012 to catalog the growing number of TV shows and movies available on the Web and make the content accessible and searchable.
"Watchily.com is a remarkable website that allows users to search for their favorite movies and TV shows across a range of services like Amazon, iTunes and Netflix," Cleary said in a prepared statement. "Searchers can find what they want to watch quickly and at the best possible price point. It’s an incredibly useful tool.
"As the number of media resources available online has increased, I think frustration has increased, too," he said. "One day, I was sitting in my living room watching my wife fumble through a dozen different search engines trying to find the latest episode of 'Glee' online, and it struck me that there had to be an easier way."
Watchily is part of LateFringe’s plans to make media searching easier for everyone. The company will announce new branding and new product features at Watchily.com in early 2014.
