Chattanooga distance runner Teghan Henderson was selected as the Southern Conference Runner of the Month, the league office announced Thursday, after the sophomore raced her way to back-to-back wins in the month of September.
Henderson led the Lady Mocs to a top-place finish at the team’s season-opening PowerAde Invitational, claiming the title in the women’s 2-mile race. She finished the course in a time of 10:58.10, more than 25 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
She had a repeat performance two weeks later at the Georgia State Invitational, pacing the field with a time of 14:07.61 over the 4-kilometer course while helping Chattanooga to a second-place finish.
She was named the SoCon’s Runner of the Week on Sept. 11 and Sept. 25 for her performances.
The men’s and women’s cross country teams will host the Front Runner Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Moccasin Bend Race Course. The women’s race starts at 3 p.m., followed by the men’s 5K.
