The best from Week 5:
Senior Haasan Miller, Tyner
It took a few weeks longer than they’d have hoped, but the Rams finally got one in the win column on Friday. Senior quarterback Haasan Miller was instrumental in Tyner’s 49-30 victory over Soddy-Daisy, too. He completed 10-of-19 passes for 107 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown pass to teammate Edward Springs, while also running for 123 yards and a pair of scores.
Senior Lincoln Phillips, Silverdale
Phillips found the end zone from 8 yards out in Friday’s game against Sweetwater, spotting SBA a 14-7 second-quarter advantage over the visiting Wildcats. His offensive performance paled in comparison to his defensive impact, though. The senior defensive end collected four sacks in the narrow 24-21 win over the Wildcats which preserved the Seahawks’ unbeaten start.
Senior James McLellan, Signal Mountain
The Eagles came up short at Bradley Central on Friday, but Signal’s running game certainly did its part, especially senior running back Diamez Franklin. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder ran 15 times for 149 yards and three touchdowns in the 36-27 loss to the Bears, while teammate James McLellan racked up 175 yards on 31 carries.
Senior Mike Williams, Ooltewah
The Owls were without their biggest playmaker for the final three quarters of Friday’s game against Dobyns-Bennett but wide receiver Mike Williams stepped up in running back Desmond Pittman’s absence. The senior hauled in nine receptions for 137 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Brody Binder with 4:12 left in the third quarter.
Senior Jajuan Lankford, South Pittsburg
The Pirates improved to 5-1 on the year with Friday’s win at Grundy County, and senior running back JaJuan Lankford did a lot of the heavy lifting. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound back piled up 206 yards and three scores in the 32-8 victory over the Yellowjackets.
