It's time for Mayor Andy Berke's campaign war chest to get a new clutch plate and a new set of shocks.
This Thursday, Berke will make his annual pit stop at Lindsay Street Hall to host his Bruce Springsteen-themed fundraiser, Bruce, BBQ and Berke. In order to come rock that joint, the mayor is asking supporters to make contributions of at least $25.
After he hit the gas to win March's mayoral election, Berke had $335,745 in his campaign account, according to a July 10 finance disclosure. In an email to supporters, the mayor made no mention of working to get his campaign machine humming like a turbo jet, instead framing the event as one of celebration.
"Let's celebrate at this annual party in my hometown," Berke said.
Hardly an all-night run, the mayor's fundraiser will go from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., wrapping up well before the wee hours. No need to find a pay phone—supporters can reserve their tickets online.
