The Fall in Love Super Adopt-a-thon is a weekend-long event featuring hundreds of dogs and cats that are ready to be adopted. Animals from the Humane Educational Society, Catoosa Citizens for Animal Care, Trooper’s Treasures and McKamey Animal Center will be featured. Each pet will be spayed or neutered and up to date on all of their shots prior to the event, according to organizers. Adoption fees are $75 for puppies, $50 for dogs, and $25 for cats and kittens.

Aoife O’donovan at Barking Legs
Aoife O’donovan is an American singer-songwriter and lead singer for progressive bluegrass band Crooked Still. Recently, she has toured with The Milk Carton Kids. Her latest album is "Fossil," which is her first release on Yep Roc Records. Those unfamiliar with her name might know her music. Her songs have appeared on "True Blood" and "Private Practice." She also penned the song "Lay My Burden Down," which Alison Krauss recorded on her 2011 album, "Paper Airplane." She also recently appeared on "The Goat Rodeo Sessions" with Chris Thile, Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and Stuart Duncan. She will perform Friday night at Barking Legs Theater.

Augustus Gloop would be envious of kids in Chattanooga this weekend for the second annual Chocolate Festival at the Creative Discovery Museum. The festival celebrates the history of chocolate, lore, science and decadence. Here’s what you can expect: cocoa butter lotion station, sampling stations, kitchen classes, truffle making and even an opportunity to unleash your inner Jackson Pollack using chocolate as the medium. Be careful, though; the museum cannot guarantee that this program is allergen-free.

Scenic City Wings
Last week, it was burgers; and this week, it is all about hot wings. The Chattanooga Market will host the annual Scenic City Wings competition to determine the best hot wings in the city. The list of competitors is long, with both some familiar and unfamiliar entries. Who has the best hot wings in Chattanooga? The people will decide on Sunday. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.

Get out and play in the creek
Let’s face it, our days of sunshine and summertime temperatures are numbered. Outdoor Chattanooga is inviting you to attend what may be the last water-based expedition of the season on Sunday at South Chickamauga Greenway and Sterchi Farms. The afternoon features a guided hike and open canoeing. Just come out and play!
