From time to time, we come across some strange products. This occasional series will feature the strangest of the strange.
How often do you think about hopping on a three-wheeled trike and robbing the grannies down the street?
If your answer is "yes, often," you might want to sit down.
A company called High Roller USA manufactures adult-sized trikes for purchase and, well, whatever you want to do with them.
The possibilities are endless—racing, impressing women and petty crime. Of course, you could also ride alongside your children.
Pause for a nostalgic flashback to those summer afternoons spent with your neighborhood friends as a gang of ne'er-do-wells on plastic trikes. Those were the days. Now, imagine doing that again but also being able to legally drink alcoholic beverages and utter swear words. Yes! YES!
Extra wheels and axle rods are also sold.
The only setback would be the price. Trikes retail for between $599 and $800, depending on the source. According to the company’s website, the standard model is on backorder.
Most of the reviews via Amazon.com are clearly jokes, touting the bike as a "big girl’s best friend" and a "godsend for my overweight children." However, one reviewer mentions how much fun he has "rolling alongside his kids" with their Fisher-Price bikes.
"Not real practical but if you have the money and miss your childhood, then you gotta have one of these! 5 stars for sure," he writes.
The major irk among reviews involves pricing.
"It's a well-built adult big wheel, but I would put this in the $200-$300 range," said one reviewer. "It's definitely overpriced."
For now, it appears High Roller USA owns the monopoly on adult trikes. The only other option we could find was this Rassine Kicker Street model, which one reviewer gave 2 stars—but only because he "did have fun in the hour it took for it to disintegrate."
