The best from Week 2:
Senior Hunter Moore, East Hamilton
The Hurricanes’ offense exploded in last week’s 56-35 win over Walker Valley, and quarterback Hunter Moore accounted for nearly all of it. Moore completed 13-of-24 passes for 440 yards and five touchdown passes, and the 6-foot-1, 210-pound senior also added a rushing score in the lopsided victory. Teammate Tony Francois, who finished with seven receptions for 303 yards, was on the receiving end of four of Moore's touchdown passes.
Senior Isaiah Robinson, Hixson
Robinson was a factor throughout Hixson’s 48-35 win over visiting Tyner, but he really came on in the final quarter when the Wildcats, who closed the game with 27 unanswered points, came storming back. Robinson, who finished with a game-high 164 yards on 24 carries, scored the go-ahead touchdown with 3:28 remaining, spotting Hixson a 40-35 advantage, and, less than a minute later, he found the end zone from three yards out, all but ending the Rams’ chances.
Senior Brody Binder, Ooltewah
The Owls got back in the win column last Friday, crushing Soddy-Daisy 58-14, and quarterback Brody Binder was largely responsible for Ooltewah’s offensive dominance. The senior signal caller completed 22-of-34 pass attempts for 312 yards and five touchdowns in the lopsided victory — four of which came in the decisive first half, which Ooltewah won 34-8.
Senior Austin Herink, Cleveland
Herink delivered another huge performance for the Blue Raiders, who’ve now won two straight. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound senior did most of the damage with his feet, though, piling up four rushing touchdowns in the 49-7 win over McMinn County. He had a pretty good night throwing the football, too, completing 17-of-27 pass attempts for 203 yards and three scores.
Senior Clay Heltzel, Notre Dame
The Fighting Irish were without starting quarterback Alex Darras for the second straight week, but Notre Dame’s No. 2 man, senior Clay Heltzel, delivered in the teams’ 50-13 victory over District 7-AA foe Chattanooga Christian. Heltzel completed 8-of-18 pass attempts for 152 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown pass to teammate Kareem Orr, and he also added a 79-yard rushing score in the one-sided win.
