Developers are continuing work on about 3,000 acres around the Black Creek Club golf course in the area formerly known as Cummings Cove.
A number of homes have already been sold, and there are about 20 under construction in the $500 million development, which is called Black Creek Mountain.
The area is the last undeveloped mountain in Chattanooga, according to archives.
When work on the development began in 2011, leaders said that it was a 10-year-plus project and that at least 1,000 homes could eventually be built.
Starting costs for lots are about $70,000, and homes start at about $240,000 and go up from there.
Leaders recently announced the addition of four builders to the development team. Dexter White, Hagaman Construction Company, Hill Haven Holdings/Nu Era Construction and P&C Construction are now working on homes in the community.
The team of builders has begun construction new homes that range from $300,000 to $700,000.
The community will have an array of amenities, development spokesman Barry Valcarcel said.
The clubhouse at the golf course recently underwent a $2 million renovation, he said.
There is also a private restaurant for use only by the development's homeowners, a fitness center, indoor lounge and an outdoor area with a fireplace, he said.
There's a dog park, a soccer field and walking trails. Crews will create more walking trails as they continue to build up the mountain.
Crews are also working on the completion of the resort-sized pool, which has a 12-foot waterfall.
Ultimately, the idea is to have something for everyone, Valcarcel said.
"It's a resort-style community ... with all the amenities and more amenities coming, I really don't think there's anything like it in Chattanooga," he said.
