Continuing a set of events scheduled during his August recess, Rep. Chuck Fleischmann is scheduled to participate in a symposium focused on women and minority entrepreneurs today at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.
Fleischmann is a chairman of the first Women at the Top Symposium (WATT), which will showcase women business owners and offer discussion regarding business opportunities in the region.
In an interview with Nooga.com, the congressman said he was eager to see focus be placed on women and minority entrepreneurs not just in Chattanooga, but across America.
"As I've seen this new program unfold, it's been tremendous," Fleischmann said. "It's exactly what I want to see happening not only in Chattanooga, but across the country: for women to show their talent, to have a seat at the table and to help get the economy back on track."
The congressman will offer brief remarks at the event.
The WATT Symposium will take place this morning from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The keynote speaker for the free event is Corinne Henderson, who is with Henderson + Gouger PLLC.
Updated @ 4:09 p.m. on 8/20/13 to correct a factual error: Henderson is with Henderson + Gouger PLLC, not Henders + Gouger PLLC, as originally reported.
