KNOXVILLE – Tennessee was scheduled to unveil its new uniforms at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, but adidas, UT’s official apparel provider, went ahead and released a picture and video of the new alternate look, which features a heavy dose of gray.

It’s unclear how often Tennessee will use this alternate look, but it will reportedly be no more than once a season.

This will be the first time Tennessee has gone with a non-traditional look since former coach Lane Kiffin used black and orange jerseys for a 2009 Halloween contest against South Carolina.

Head coach Butch Jones hinted at the possibility of uniform changes at his preseason press conference in late July.

"Well, I will tell you this: in today's world of recruiting and the age that we live in, that's something that has kind of been important to programs,” he said. “I respect the great tradition that we have here. I think I've proven that.

“Everything is about our tradition, but we will continue to look and evaluate that. If that's best for us, we will do that. There may be something coming, but everything that we do and if we do it, will respect our traditions here at Tennessee."

Nooga.com will have more pictures and reactions after UT officially unveils the look later this afternoon at Neyland Stadium.
