Take me out to the ballgame
The Lookouts know that one of the best things about opening day is the roar of the crowd, so Chattanooga’s home team is getting the ball rolling early this year with this Saturday’s Fan Fest. The citizens of Lookout nation can clock their fastball, tour the stadium at AT&T Field, get their face painted, stock up on club memorabilia, and buy single-game tickets and opening day tickets. Fans can even grab free opening day tickets by donating a canned food item to benefit the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.

THE excuse to wear green
Who doesn’t love to dress up in Irish green for a day? Or to think of it, who doesn’t love to dress up their favorite canine friend in matching or equally festive shamrock-inspired attire? The good folks at DOGood are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with the fourth annual St. PAWtrick's Day Dog at Renaissance Park this weekend with a costume-friendly walk to the dog-friendly patio at Greenlife on Manufacturers Road for the first Yappy Hour of 2013, where pooches can sample the free treats and their owners can munch on $5 fare off the grill.

Printers, at your mark
It is now possible to print a 3-D object off a printer, the same kind of hardware that once printed only your Microsoft Word-composed term papers. The 4th Floor at The Public Library transforms itself on Saturday into a showcase of this emerging technology with Chattanooga-based Makers Day: Scenic City-based creators, techies, entrepreneurs, movers and shakers on hand to demo their 3-D printers. For your educational refinement and internal Cheshire Cat, there will be programs, kiosks and speakers to illuminate the ways in which this technology and its subsequent application to manufacturing can and will mold the Southeast in the future.
