On Monday, Erlanger officials hosted the grand opening of the Erlanger East Emergency Center, a new ER campus to serve the residents of east Hamilton County.

This is the area's first around-the-clock emergency care center, and it is located on Gunbarrel Road.

“Our new, full-service emergency center is the only facility of its kind to serve the growing population in this area,” Charlesetta Woodard-Thompson, Erlanger Health System president and CEO, said in a prepared statement. “Our staff is looking forward to providing much-needed emergency care to the residents here.”

The new ER will provide care for both children and adults and treatments for everything from sports injuries to major illnesses. The facility will be open 365 days a year and is equipped with the latest technology. The facility has 17 treatment rooms and a six-bed clinical observation unit.

The center also has full-service radiology, laboratory and respiratory services, including nuclear medicine capabilities. Specialists in emergency care are employed at the new emergency room, and 100 percent of the center's physicians are board-certified in emergency medicine.

This facility is Erlanger’s fifth emergency center, joining the Baroness Campus, Children’s Hospital, Erlanger North and Erlanger Bledsoe.

According to a prepared statement, the opening of Erlanger East is a phase of the master plan to grow with the needs of the region.

Updated @ 2:07 p.m. on 3/12/13 to add the name of the road the ER is located on.
