The Hunter Museum of American Art launches a new speaker series tonight, providing one more avenue through which veteran art appreciators and newbies can connect with artists. Glass artist Paul Stankard—a man of international reputation whose exhibit Beauty Beyond Nature is currently at the Hunter—draws inspiration from Walt Whitman’s iconic verses and translates the works into a collection of paperweights; botanicals; cubes and columns; orbs; diptychs and triptychs; and assemblages.
