The Chattanooga men’s tennis team was shut out for the first time this season, suffering a 7-0 loss at No. 22 North Carolina on Sunday. The Mocs fell to 5-3 this spring, while the Tar Heels improved to 6-2.

UNC won all 10 matches on the day, but UTC did force third sets in a pair of singles contests.

At No. 2, senior Manuel Barroetavena dropped the first set to No. 77 Brett Clark, 6-2, but fought back to win the second 7-5. Barroetavena lost the super-breaker in the third 10-8, though, suffering his first defeat this spring.

Senior Jackson Tresnan also lost his first singles match this spring, losing a tough three-set singles match to Maik Ulrich at No. 5. Tresnan lost the first set 4-6 before battling back to take the second 6-2. He lost the super-breaker in the third 10-6.

The Mocs return to action Wednesday when they host a rescheduled match with Lee University. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. at the UTC Tennis Courts.
