HUMBLE, Tex. — The Chattanooga men’s golf team matched its opening 18 score with a two-over par 290 on Saturday in the Bayou City Collegiate Championship at Redstone Golf Club. UTC is tied for sixth at plus-4 with South Carolina.
Liam Johnston (Dumfries, Scotland) once again led the way for with a one-under par 71. He is tied for fifth overall at minus four, 140, which matches his career-best 36-hole total as a Moc. The sophomore was 1-over for the round after a bogey on 14, but he birdied 15 and 17 for his 71.
Davis Bunn (Knoxville, Tenn.) missed matching Johnston by a shot. His 72 ties him for 27th at plus-1 with teammate Steven Fox (Hendersonville, Tenn.) who carded a 73. The duo sits at 145.
Chris Robb (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) rounded out the team scoring with a 74, while Benni Weilguni (Langenlois, Austria) had the drop score with an 80. Robb’s total through 36 is 151, and Weilguni is at 156.
No. 3 Texas shot 14-under par 274 on Saturday to take a commanding 13-stroke advantage at 559 (-17). Baylor is in second at 572 (-4), while Charlotte is in third at 2-under 574. Longhorns individual entry Brax McCarthy leads at 8-under 136 after a 69 on Saturday. Julio Vegas, also from Texas, is in second at 138 (-6).
