Awards season, the Super Bowl, the threat of snow and tornadoes—with the flurry of activity in the first few months of the year, it might be easy to forget about Chattanooga’s calendar of charitable events.

This weekend features three events, with causes ranging from clean water for children and gala themes running the gamut from Mardi Gras to a scenic walk through a greenhouse, wine in hand.

Save Water, Drink Wine
What would the perfect solution to a cold winter night be? An evening spent inside series of greenhouses surrounded by thriving plants and the promise of spring flowers. The Barn Nursery plays host to the CaribbeanSEA and TenneSEA Clean Water Project’s Save Water, Drink Wine Event. Guests can sample wine, try tapas dishes created by 212 Market, Terra Nostra, Nino’s and Dish T’Pass while waltzing down rows of greenery to Dan Landrum’s music. All proceeds go to education and advocacy for clean water restoration in the Tennessee Valley.

When: Saturday, Feb. 2, 6-9 p.m.
Where: 1801 E. 24th St.
How much: $40 for individual tickets

Mardi Gras Gala
New Orleans may have adjusted its Mardi Gras calendar to accommodate Super Bowl 2013, but the Children’s Home/Chambliss Shelter is ready to kick off the carnival season. The organization is throwing a New Orleans theme fete with authentic Big Easy dishes and beverages created by Events with Taste and live music from the Ben Friberg Trio and Sound Force Entertainment at Loose Cannon. All proceeds go to housing children in need and training foster families.

When: Saturday, Feb. 2, 7-11 p.m.
Where: 1800A Rossville Ave.
How much: $70 for individual tickets

Allegient Wish Bowl 2013
The Make-A-Wish East Tennessee chapter is giving a familiar event a makeover. The annual Super Bowl screening party is now held somewhere that puts the latest home entertainment system to shame: the downtown IMAX 3-D theater. Guests can watch the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers duke it out on a jumbo screen, have dinner, and bid in the silent and live auctions. All proceeds go to the regional chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

When: Sunday, Feb. 3, 6 p.m.
Where: 201 Chestnut St.
How much: $125 for individual tickets
