Six personal records set at Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Six Chattanooga runners set personal records on Saturday at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky at the Nutter Field House.

Senior Nathan Wanuch set a new personal best in the men’s mile run with a time of 4:17.13, while junior John Gilpin posted a new PR in the race as well with a time of 4:26.50. 

In the women’s 400-meter dash, junior Gabby Cader and sophomore Ambria Reese each topped their revious records with times of 1:00.15 and 1:02.63, respectively. Sophomore Jessica Philpott posted her PR of 2:22.41 in the women’s 800-meter run, while Marquis Carter finished in 1:56.69 in the men’s 800-meter. Carter just missed the UTC school record of 1:52.26, set by Ryan Kendall in 2002. 

Sophomore Amanda Sumner placed 18th in the women’s 3,000-meter Section 1 and 2 race with a time of 10:04.38, while sophomore transfer Rachel Greenwall won the women’s Section 3 race with a time of 10:35.56. Freshman Paul Stuart placed fourth in his first outdoor meet with a time of 8:44.51, while classmate Matthew Marshall was 14th at 9:08.73.

The Mocs return to action next Saturday when they travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for the MTSU Blue Raider Invitational at the Murphy Center.
