Chattanooga's Z. Mason has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for his performance in the Mocs' 1-1 stretch last week against Appalachian State and Western Carolina.

Mason scored a game-high 23 points in the Mocs' 91-88 overtime victory over the Mountaineers, helping his team overcome a 19-point, second-half deficit, and the 6-5 forward added 21 points in Saturday's 90-81 loss to Western Carolina.

Mason also brought down a game-high 11 boards in Saturday's win over ASU for his second 20-point, 10-rebound performance of the season.

He shot a combined 14 of 26 (53%) from the floor in the two games, 3 of 6 (50%) from 3-point range and an impressive 13 of 16 (81%) from the free-throw line, while collecting three steals, three assists and a blocked shot.

Mason, a junior out of Nashville is currently tied for 11th in the Southern Conference in scoring (14.2 ppg), and ranks sixth in rebounding (7.2 rpg).

Mason and the Mocs return to action Thursday when they travel to Elon, N.C., to face the Phoenix (7 p.m.), and they'll play at UNC Greensboro on Sunday (2 p.m.).
