Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Chattanooga

Chattanoogans celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day with hours spent volunteering and participating in the annual Memorial March down East M.L. King Boulevard.

During the morning, hundreds of students from Southern Adventist University and Baylor School put in time at more than 40 different locations, including the Chattanooga Zoo, the Humane Educational Society, Memorial Hospital, Red Bank Life Care Nursing Home and Williams Island.

Later in the day, hundreds of individuals represented many different organizations in the commemorative parade. Motorcycles, Civil War re-enactors and a Hummer from radio station Power 94 playing music led the way to the Tivoli Theatre for a talk by Erran F. Persley of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
