Just days after Chattanooga found itself an offensive coordinator, running backs coach Thomas Brown bolted for the door.
Brown left for Georgia State, where he’ll join a Panthers staff led by first-year head coach Trent Miles.
GSU, which has compiled a 4-18 record over the past two seasons as a member of the Football Championship Subdivision’s Colonial Athletic Association, will be making the move up to the Football Bowl Subdivision next season as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.
Brown, who previously served as a graduate assistant in the University of Georgia strength and conditioning program, was hired by Chattanooga head coach Russ Huesman in Feb. 2012. Brown, a four-year letter winner at Georgia (2004-07), was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft, where he played one season. He spent the 2009 season with the Cleveland Browns.
