Lights, camera, bark!

McKamey Animal Center will make its national TV debut tonight in the first installment of a three-episode arc on the Lifetime Network’s show “Designing Spaces.”

The 30-minutes episodes will air at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Jan. 17 and 24 and then as a second showing of the series on March 14, 21 and 28.

“Designing Spaces” producers were drawn to the Chattanooga animal shelter after discovering the YouTube video of Winston, the police car bumper-eating pit bull. McKamey was able to rehabilitate Winston after the staff discovered that his behavior was not an expression of aggression but of play.

The show’s director and producer, Arash Farsi, and members of the show’s crew, supported by local film crew Smallbox Entertainment Group, filmed the process of making over McKamey last November

The improvements to the Hixson facility included new meet-and-greet rooms for those considering pet adoption, heated operating tables and medical testing equipment for the laboratory, a Snapfish photo wall for the administrative offices and traveling animal displays.

McKamey, located on 4500 North Access Road, is hosting a viewing party this evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with refreshments.

The Lifetime Network is channel 52 for EPB customers, channel 37 on Comcast and channel 252 on Direct TV.
