A pair of Chattanooga football players were arrested by UTC police stemming from an incident at Boling Apartments late Sunday night.
Linebacker Muhasibi Wakeel, a redshirt sophomore, was charged with assault on a police officer and disorderly conduct, while sophomore defensive end Keyon Reed was arrested and charged with assault on a police officer Monday after spending Sunday night at Erlanger Hospital.
Both players have been suspended indefinitely.
The 5-11, 220-pound Wakeel, who spent 2012 as a special teamer, was the No. 1 candidate to replace senior outside linebacker Shane Heatherly, while Reed was a backup on Chattanooga’s defensive front. Reed, a 6-2, 260-pounder from Palm Bay, Fla., was also arrested in September 2011.
Mocs head coach Russ Huesman, who is in Nashville for the American Football Coaches Association coaches convention until Jan. 9, could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon.
