Six degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon? Try one degree of separation from President Barack Obama.
As part of its Creative Citizen Program, The Public Library will host Daniel Ryan and Josh Higgins of Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign on Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
The team is responsible for the retooling of Obama’s second bid for office that built on the social networking strength of his first campaign and added components such as a blog and interactive avenues through which supporters could locate nearby supporters and events or create their own events.
Ryan and Higgins designed the crisp blue “Are you in?’ slogan that decorated the 2012 blog, Facebook page, Twitter feed and T-shirts.
The pair, both of whom are highly tenured in the fields of Web and media design, will discuss their professional experiences, their time on the campaign trail and with Obama, and how they incorporated citizenship into their creative work.
The talk will kick off a political weekend with the two-day candidate forum and DesignFest on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25 and 26, highlight mayoral and City Council candidates, and host an event in which teams design a mobile app for voter information.
Registration is now open for the event, called We Helped Obama Win, with tickets available at varying prices.
