Crews to start work on Ringgold Krystal

Leaders of the Krystal Company announced that crews will begin work on a new restaurant in Ringgold next week.

The old Krystal was destroyed by tornadoes in 2011.

“We wanted to build a store that is as special as Ringgold is," Brian Blosser, vice president of development, said in a prepared statement. "The new, more efficient design is geared toward speed of service and customer satisfaction."

The new restaurant will be located at 5337 Alabama Highway in Ringgold.  When it opens in April, it will have about 35 employees.

Leaders got help from state Sen. Jeff Mullis to work through the process of situating the parking lot, so customers will have easy access to it.

In the next five years, Krystal leaders want to open 500 stores around the South, and the Ringgold store will be a model for the others.

“We are fortunate that our investors see the value of having one of our first new restaurants open in Ringgold," Doug Pendergast, president and CEO, said in a prepared statement. "We appreciate the patience of this special community and look forward to seeing them as they roll through our drive-thru or come in for a visit over coffee."
