Neatly packed and duly weighty: The Diptyque candles are waiting for a place on the patio or beside the bed. (Photo: Staff)

There are handmade, heirloom advent calendars and store-bought, paper calendars, red and green calendars and striped calendars and polka dotted calendars.

Regardless of the form, the excitement of opening a package every day to count down the days until Christmas never fails to delight both the young and the old.

The Chattanooga gift advent calendar offers a daily suggestion for a local purchase to bring a little piece of the Scenic City to the holiday hoard under the tree.

Day 8
In the gallery of luxury home decor at Revival, one shelf holds two rows of neatly stacked round boxes with a certain Paris address printed on the front. There is a certain je nous se qua about the clean white boxes—a certain quality that the style arbiters behind the Warehouse Row store have been bringing to Chattanooga for the past 10 years.

Inside each box is a confection of a candle made by hand for the French company Diptyque. The larger candles are housed in ceramic glazed and unglazed pots embossed with the signature label that make for versatile indoor and outdoor use. With five wicks, candles burn for 150 hours.

The aesthetic appeal falls in line with the essential oil-inspired scents. Revival carries feu de dois—modeled after the deep woods on a long winter day—and baits—meant to call to mind a bouquet of roses and black currants.

Where: 1110 Market St.
How much: $275
