The Tennessee Small Business Development Center recently recognized two small businesses that leaders think have great potential by giving them the Rising Star Award.

At the Chattanooga ceremony last week, leaders gave James and Heiki Clark of Clark’s Bakery in Dunlap, Tenn., and Dr. Melissa Gratias with MBG Organizing Solutions in Crossville, Tenn., the award.

The Rising Star Award recognizes companies that are in the first five years of business that have shown unique potential in growing their business, management and leadership.

Staff members with the Small Business Development Center pick the winners.

Clark's Bakery aims to be profitable and educate people on health at the same time, according to a news release.

James and Heiki Clark have created their own natural foods, grains and breads and aim to spread healthy living.

Gratias, the principal owner and consultant with MBG Organizing Solutions, has been showing others how to be more effective and organized for more than 15 years.

She's also taught thousands in training courses designed to help business leaders implement practical time management and personal organization solutions.

Leaders with the Small Business Development Center also recognized a core group of volunteers who have supported the organization.
