Country music star Jake Owen will be the opening night act for Riverbend 2013.

Owen will kick off the Riverbend celebration on June 7 at 9:30 on the Coca-Cola stage. "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" is the title of Owen's latest CD and his biggest hit to date.

His revival of "Life in a Northern Town" with Sugarland and Little Big Town in 2008 earned him Grammy and CMA Award nominations. Owen was named 2009's Top New Male Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music.

More to get excited about
Ed Roland of Collective Soul will also be at 2013's Riverbend Festival.

The Atlanta native has been the frontman and heart of the platinum-selling rock band Collective Soul for two decades. His latest venture, Sweet Tea Project, will join him.

Roland has written seven No. 1 radio hits and has sold more than 10 million records worldwide, but the Sweet Tea Project is a new approach to his classic hit-making style. Ed Roland and the Sweet Tea Project will hit the Budweiser stage Thursday, June 13.

Get ready for Big Smo, an artist with his own unique sound that may best be described as country rap. In 2002, Big Smo self-released his first album, "Kuntry Kitchen." The album received rave reviews, and Big Smo was on his way to becoming a local independent force. A few years later, he released his sophomore album, "The True South," a crossover album that blends his street experience with his backwoods southern roots. Big Smo plays Friday, June 14 on the Budweiser stage.

There will be a one-day Riverbend pin sale at Hamilton Place Mall on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Riverbend pins will be sold for $26 each at the food court entrance.

Star seating is available for the Jake Owen, Dierks Bentley and Brandy performances. These seats are on sale now for $20, in addition to admission. Call 423-756-2211 to order.
