Erlanger introduces 2013 Miracle Children during annual tree lighting event

Nine Miracle Children were introduced during the annual tree lighting at Erlanger Medical Mall.

Miracle Children represent Children's Hospital at Erlanger throughout the upcoming year as part of the Children's Miracle Network. 

Each year, the Children's Hospital Foundation kicks off the holiday season with the tree lighting and introduction of the coming year's Miracle Children. The children were introduced by Charlesetta Woodard-Thompson, president and CEO, and Debbie Alper, foundation board member. 

The event also included a book signing to benefit the Children's Hospital and other Erlanger departments, arts and crafts, and music from a local bluegrass band.

The 2013 Miracle Children are:

—Greer Cofield, 5, Cartersville, Ga.
Kicked in the face by a horse

—Hilario Sanchez, 8 months, Dalton, Ga.
Pertussis

—Kyra McGowan, 2, Signal Mountain
Prematurely born at 27 weeks' gestation (weighed 1 pound, 9 ounces at birth)

—Mackenzie Snyder, 10 months, Chattanooga
Respiratory depression

—Rachel Price, 17, Sale Creek
Anaplastic large cell lymphoma

—Sara Carr, 18, Chattanooga
Diffuse large cell lymphoma

—Wynn Eady, 1, Chattanooga
Nuchal cord delivery/renal hepatic failure
