Kohl's Department Store and the Children's Hospital at Erlanger will present a holiday Safe and Sound Program Dec. 1 to promote family safety in Chattanooga.

The program will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Kohl's Hixson location.

In addition to educational opportunities about safety, the Kohl's A-Team will also have activities available for children, such as cookie decorating, face painting and crafts.

“Kohl's Safe and Sound Holiday Fair is just one of the many free programs Children's Hospital at Erlanger hosts for the local community to provide educational opportunities and promote family safety in our community,” Coy Ellis, coordinator for the program, said in a prepared statement. “We are looking forward to working with our partners this year to feature Chattanooga Police Department bike and helmet safety, fire safety with the Fort Oglethorpe Fire Department, car seat demonstrations, holiday hazard prevention reminders and much more.”

Kohl's will also present a check for $61,987 to the hospital representatives at noon. The money will go towards the injury prevention program to help educate families about the importance of keeping their children safe.
