“Sweatin’ to the Oldies” redux
Richard Simmons may have had a lock on the dance fitness scene in the 1970s, but Zumba is now dominating group class schedules at most gyms, including the Hixson Community Center. The workouts pair moves drawn from Latin dance steps with blasting international music, essentially allowing you to break it down to a racing beat while burning the pre-holiday calories.

When: 4:30 p.m.
Where: 5600 School Drive
How much: Free

Even if it is the day before Thanksgiving—a day for decidedly “American” food—chips, salsa and margaritas are in order. Today, Taco Mamacita runs its weekly two for one on the rocks special, just in time to grab one last moment of delicious calm before the impending holiday noise.

When: 4-10 p.m.
Where: 109 N. Market St.
How much: Margaritas regularly priced $7 to $9.50
