Fire investigators with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office are offering a $10,000 monetary reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons who reported the fire at Loftis Middle School.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the fire marshal's office are participating in the investigation into the fire, which was reported Sept. 17.

“There is a clear and compelling federal interest in what occurred at Loftis Middle School ... ATF and its law enforcement partners remain focused on bringing to justice the person or persons responsible for the malicious act,” ATF Resident Agent in Charge Darryl Hill said in a prepared statement.

Hill asked that anyone with information about the incident call the 24-hour hotline at 1-888-ATF-FIRE.

“The state fire marshal's office is eager to see those responsible for this arson brought to justice,” Fire Marshal Julie Mix McPeak said in a prepared statement. “We lend our expertise to fire investigations every day, and we will continue to work with our sister agencies in this and other cases.”
