Chattanooga’s volleyball team captured a 3-0 win at Western Carolina on Friday evening in Cullowhee, N.C. The Mocs (13-17, 7-8 Southern Conference) clinched its first SoCon tournament appearance since 2008 with the win.
Freshman Briana Reid, the reigning SoCon Freshman of the Week, led UTC with 13 kills and 12 digs for her fourth straight double-double and sixth of the season.
Fellow freshman Sarah Batterton finished with 11 kills, while senior Christina Teter and freshman Lauren Gainer narrowly missed out on double-doubles. Gainer posted a team-best .409 hitting percentage, while junior Bridget Camacho led the Mocs with 42 assists.
Senior Paul Passmore led Chattanooga’s defense with 26 digs, while sophomore Melissa Green recorded 12. Teter blocked four Catamount attacks — two assisted and two solo — and Batterton collected four kills.
Chattanooga concludes its regular-season schedule Saturday evening at Appalachian State.
