"Bridging the Pharmacy Gap: Navigating Pharmacy Resources for the Uninsured and Underinsured," a pharmacy access forum, will be held in the Health Science Building at Chattanooga State Community College Nov. 6 and 7.
The identical forum will be conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.
The Chattanooga Regional Health Innovation Coalition will present the forum, which will be targeted toward pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social workers, physicians and nurses.
Four hours of continuing education credit are available for any professionals who attend.
The cost to attend is $25 and includes lunch. There is no charge for those who do not require CE credit (and lunch will still be included).
The forum's objective is to raise awareness of local, state and national resources that provide assistance to the uninsured and underinsured. It is also for those who work with at-risk populations and are concerned about access to prescription medications for those in need.
Additionally, the forum will address the role pharmacists and pharmacy technicians play in medicine management, including statutory expectations. Tips and pointers on how to access various resources will also be discussed. Health and social service agency officials will learn to help patients coordinate resources to meet pharmaceutical needs.
A resource guide will also be shared with attendees.
The forum is sponsored by Chattanooga State’s Community Health Institute in partnership with the Chattanooga Regional Health Innovation Coalition, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society and Foundation, and the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability.
