The Chattanooga Lookouts’ 2012 season came to an end Sunday afternoon with an 8-2 loss to the Jackson Generals.

Up two games to one in the Southern League North Division best-of-five series, Jackson ended the Lookouts’ quest for a title with an 18-hit effort sparked by Nate Tenbrink, Chih-Hsien Chiang, and Mike Zunino.

Jackson struck first in the second inning. Tenbrink hit a two-out double and made his way home on a Brad Miller single for a 1-0 lead.

Tenbrink struck again in the fourth with a solo home run to put the Generals up, 2-0.

Jackson loaded the bases in the top of the sixth, and Chiang came through with a two-RBI single to increase the Jackson lead, 4-0.

The Lookouts scored their first runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth i. Rafael Ynoa led off the inning with a walk and advanced to third on a Nick Buss double. Jake Lemmerman followed with a sacrifice fly to center to plate Ynoa. After a J.T. Wise strike out, Luis Nunez ripped a double to cut the deficit to 4-2.

Brahiam Maldonado then walked to put runners on first and second. A wild pitch by reliever Yoervis Medina put both runners into scoring position, but Joc Pederson grounded out to first baseman Rich Poythress to end the rally.

Poythress hit an RBI single in the eighth to add an insurance run to the Jackson total, but a three-run homer by Zunino in the ninth served as the final blow.

Former Lookout Logan Bawcom entered the game in the bottom of the ninth and recorded the final three outs to preserve the 8-2 win for the Generals.

With the win, Jackson will play a best-of-five series against the Mobile BayBears, winners of the South Division, for the Southern League Championship.
