Former Chattanooga point guard Casey Long will be introduced as a UTC assistant coach on Monday afternoon, the school confirmed Monday morning.

Long scored 1,045 points and played 125 games in a four-year career under UTC head coach John Shulman. He averaged 8.4 points, 3.1 assists and 4.0 rebounds.

The hire is being made to fill the void left by departed assistant Ricky Cabrera, who recently accepted a coaching position at Tennessee Tech, his alma mater.

Long returns to UTC via a job at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. He does not have previous coaching experience.

Monday’s press conference is scheduled for 2 p.m.
