The Chattanooga chapter of the Society of Women Engineers donated $600 for an engineering technology scholarship for a student at Chattanooga State Community College.

The money, which local society members said is a reflection of the growing demand for highly trained engineers and technicians in the area, will be a one-time gift to the Chattanooga State Foundation, available for the fall 2012 semester.

In order for students to be considered for the award, they must be enrolled in one of the engineering technology programs.

Anyone interested in a career in engineering technology can contact Amanda Bennett at 423-697-2496 or at et_advising@chattanoogastate.edu.
