Shortstop Luis Nunez and center fielder Nick Buss each had three RBIs for the Lookouts Saturday night in Mobile, as Chattanooga beat the BayBears 6-1.
Nunez entered the series without a home run, but now has two in the last three games out of the leadoff spot. Saturday, his three-run homer in the second inning put the Lookouts ahead early. Matt Magill took over from there, posting a strong pitching performance from a Chattanooga starter for the second time in three nights in Mobile. Magill (3-2) went 5.2 innings, allowed only two hits and struck out five. He did give up five walks though, leading to a 102-pitch outing in less than six innings of work.
Buss went 3-4 on the night, scoring a run in addition to his three RBIs. He doubled in the fifth inning to drive one in, then two more scored on his single in the seventh. Three different Chattanooga relievers combined to hold Mobile scoreless over the game’s final 3.1 innings.
The Lookouts (16-21) continue their series in Mobile Sunday at 3:05 p.m. They’ll be back at AT&T Field Thursday, for a 7:15 game against Huntsville.
