Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites children in fourth through eight grades to participate in the park’s third annual summer day camp, called A Call to Arms: A Year of Conflict.

This year, the park will conduct two camps, each for different grade levels. The first camp, to be held July 17-19 (Tuesday through Thursday), will be for fourth through sixth grades, and the second camp, to be held July 24-26 (Tuesday through Thursday), will be for grades seven and eight.

The camps will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. daily. Participants will begin and end each day at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center. Lunch is not included, so campers should make arrangements for lunch after being released.

Campers will have opportunities to participate in many of the same activities soldiers engaged in during the Civil War and learn about the struggles soldiers endured 150 years ago in 1862. They will also learn the importance of battlefield preservation at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and will experience first-hand preservation efforts within the park.

Participation is limited, so park officials urge interested participants to register as soon as possible.

The registration deadline for the camps is July 9. Please contact Christopher Young at 423-752-5213, extension 117 for further information.

Camp fliers and registration forms can be picked up at Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center or at Lookout Mountain Battlefield Visitor Center. You may also download the flier and registration form at www.nps.gov/chch.
