The United Way Volunteer Center is accepting nominations until Feb. 27 for the annual Volunteer of the Year awards, which will be presented April 17 at the Volunteer United Banquet.
All volunteers from across the region are eligible for nomination and can be from any nonprofit organization.
One volunteer from each category will be recognized: Community, Education, Environment, Health, Disaster Services (individual), Disaster Services (group), National Service Volunteers and Youth Who Volunteer.
One local business will also be recognized with the Corporate Volunteer Award for its commitment to the welfare of the community. Companies may self-submit for this award.
To nominate an outstanding volunteer champion, you can fill out the application form online on the United Way website.
Judges will evaluate nominees based on the scope of responsibility given to the volunteer, their attitudes, their reliability and the uniqueness of their service.
